Boy Dies After Being Hit by Jeep in Sindhuli

A young boy has died after being struck by a jeep in Sindhuli district.

The deceased has been identified as approximately 8-year-old Ashik Bayalkoti of Golanjore Rural Municipality–2.

According to police, the accident occurred along the Mid-Hill Highway at Lamasoti in Ward No. 3 of Golanjore Rural Municipality. The jeep, bearing registration number Na 1 Ja 4623, hit the child while he was walking on the road.

Severely injured in the collision, the boy was rushed to Golanjore Basic Hospital, where he died during treatment, informed Superintendent of Police Lal Dhwaj Subedi.

The jeep was traveling from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu when it struck the pedestrian.

Police from the Khurkot Area Police Office have taken the jeep and its 27-year-old driver, Gopal Bhujel, into custody.

Following the incident, the victim’s relatives and local residents blocked the Khurkot–Ghurmi section of the Mid-Hill Highway in protest.
