China Warns of Retaliation if US Raises Tariffs on Chinese Goods

China has warned that it will take countermeasures if the United States increases tariffs on Chinese products.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday via social media platform X that China has not provided military assistance to Iran. He also rejected recent international media reports claiming that China was supplying military aid to Iran.

“The media reports accusing China of providing military assistance to Iran are completely false,” Jian wrote on X.

The clarification comes after US President Donald Trump warned that he would impose a 50 percent tariff on Chinese imports if China was found to be supporting Iran militarily.

Responding to the warning, Jian stated, “If the United States raises tariffs on China based on these allegations, China will take retaliatory measures.”
