Mark Watt Scores Century as Karnali Yaks Win by 9 Wickets

The Karnali Yaks have secured their first victory in the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). They defeated the Lumbini Lions by 9 wickets thanks to an explosive performance by Mark Watt.

The Lumbini Lions set a target of 157 runs. Karnali chased this score down very quickly, reaching the target in just 12.2 overs while losing only one wicket.

Mark Watt’s Amazing Innings

Mark Watt opened the batting and played a brilliant innings. He finished the game not out with 114 runs. He faced only 44 balls to reach this score. His aggressive batting included 6 fours and 12 massive sixes. Notably, he scored 96 of his runs just from boundaries.

Watt started well with his opening partner, Priyank Panchal. They shared a partnership of 38 runs in 3.5 overs. Panchal, who scored 90 runs in the previous game, made 12 runs today before being caught out by Sher Malla.

After Panchal was out, William Bosisto joined Watt. Bosisto scored 29 runs not out off 20 balls. Together, Watt and Bosisto built a partnership of over 100 runs to seal the victory. Sher Malla was the only bowler for Lumbini to take a wicket.

First Innings Recap

Earlier in the match at the TU International Cricket Stadium, Lumbini lost the toss and batted first. They scored 156 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Lumbini captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 49 runs off 43 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Karnali captain Sompal Kami just one run short of a half-century. Ruben Trumpelmann played a quick cameo at the end, scoring 28 not out off 13 balls. JJ Smit also contributed 23 runs.

On the bowling side for Karnali, Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets. Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Mark Watt, Yuvraj Khatri, and Bipin Prasad Sharma each took one wicket.
