Shankharapur Picnic Bus accident: 4 Dead, 31 Injured identified

A bus accident in the Lapsiphedi forest area along the Jarsingh Pauwa–Sankhu paved road in Shankharapur Municipality–3 has resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to 31 others.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when a bus (registration number BA 4 Kha 8788), carrying passengers on a picnic organized by Nature House and Herb International Company, was returning from Jarsingh Pauwa. The bus reportedly fell about 40 meters off the road.

According to SP Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kathmandu, among the deceased were:

  • 49-year-old Kamana Sharma from Kohalpur Municipality–5, Banke (currently residing in Budhanilkantha), who died at Shankharapur Hospital.
  • 51-year-old Indira Limbu from Pathibhara–5, Taplejung (currently residing in Budhanilkantha–7, Kathmandu), who died at Stupa Community Hospital, Chuchepati.
  • 55-year-old Shanti Gupta from Siraha (currently residing in Pepsicola, Kathmandu), who died at NMC Hospital.
  • 65-year-old Devendra Limbu from Panchthar (currently residing in Gothatar, Kathmandu), who also died at NMC Hospital.

Four injured individuals have been discharged after treatment, while 23 others are receiving care at various hospitals.
