Student Injured After Alleged Beating by School Principal in Baitadi

A student has been injured after allegedly being beaten by a school principal at a secondary school in Baitadi district.

According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred at around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday at Khaiti Secondary School in Talladehi, Ward No. 9 of Purchaudi Municipality.

The school’s principal, Dhawal Singh Bhandari, has been accused of assaulting Tejas Singh Bhandari, a 12-year-old student of Grade 8, leaving him injured.

Following the incident, classmates took the injured student to the Talladehi Health Post for initial treatment. Police said he sustained injuries to his face, head, arms and legs.

Police spokesperson Inspector Bhuvan Timsina confirmed that the student’s condition required further treatment and he was referred to Dhangadhi for advanced medical care.

After receiving information about the incident, a three-member police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Nain Singh Dhami from the Temporary Police Post in Talladehi was deployed to the scene.

Authorities said the reason behind the alleged assault is still under investigation. The principal involved has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
