The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has stated that Nepal is currently under the influence of western winds, local wind systems, and a low-pressure area near the country’s eastern region. Due to these conditions, rainfall has already been recorded in several parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the division, there is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning along with snowfall in some places of the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces during the daytime. Similar weather conditions are also likely in a few places of the Terai and hilly regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The forecast further warns that the Terai regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces may experience hot daytime conditions. In addition, strong winds are likely in some areas of the Terai belts of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

For tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim. Partly cloudy skies are likely over the hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim, while the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim may remain mostly clear.

The division has also forecast a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning, along with snowfall in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini and Karnali provinces, and in the Himalayan regions of Sudurpaschim Province.
