Husband Arrested for Killing and Burying Wife in Sankhuwasabha

Police have revealed a case in Madi Municipality of Sankhuwasabha where a husband killed his own wife and buried her body.

After arresting 49-year-old Prem Dorchi Sherpa of Madi Municipality-3, police found that he had killed his 37-year-old wife, Meena Sherpa. Police have started an investigation against him on charges of murder.

According to police, on the night of Mangsir 9 at around 10:30 pm, Prem Dorchi Sherpa and his wife had an argument over a minor issue while returning home from Okharbote Bazaar. The argument became violent, and he beat his wife to death on the way. He later admitted the crime to police.

After the killing, he dug a pit in his own cardamom farm in Madi Municipality-3, wrapped the body in a tarpaulin, and buried it the same night.

Later, on Mangsir 27, Prem Dorchi Sherpa filed a complaint at the Madi police post in Mangalbare, claiming that his wife was missing. During the search and questioning, police grew suspicious, and he confessed to the murder, said DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali.

A police investigation team led by Inspector Pashuram Rai from the Area Police Office, Chainpur, dug in the cardamom farm and found the woman’s decomposed body wrapped in a tarpaulin underground.

Police said the accused has been sent to Sankhuwasabha District Court in Chainpur, where his detention has been extended for further investigation in the murder case.
