Fire Breaks Out in Two Industries in Birtamod, Causing Heavy Loss

A fire broke out early this morning at two industries operating in Birtamod Municipality–4 in Jhapa District, causing significant damage.

According to Police Information Officer Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, the incident occurred at around 4:15 AM. The fire simultaneously engulfed “Jhapa Chips Factory,” operated by Bhakti Prasad Upreti, and “Saugat Wood Furniture,” owned by Chandra Prasad Kharel.

Preliminary estimates suggest that the fire destroyed raw materials, finished products, and machinery in both industries, resulting in losses worth approximately NPR 10 million.

The fire was brought under control after a joint effort by teams from the Area Police Office Birtamod, Armed Police Force Base Camp Shanishchare, fire engines from Birtamod, Bhadrapur, and Mechinagar municipalities, along with the assistance of local residents.

Police have stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
