The ward chairperson of Mithila Bihari Municipality in Dhanusha has been shot dead.

Bindeshwar Yadav, the chairperson of Ward No. 9 in Mithila Bihari Municipality, was killed after being shot by unknown attackers.

According to local eyewitnesses, an unidentified group shot him around 6 PM on Friday evening and then ran away.

He was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for treatment, but he died there, the District Police Office Dhanusha said.

He had been elected as ward chairperson as an independent candidate in the local elections held in 2079 B.S.
