A mother and her young son were killed after a wild elephant from Chitwan National Park attacked their home in Belhatta, Ward No. 23 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan.

The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Ashika Bote and her 4-year-old son, Bharat Bote. According to local authorities, the elephant suddenly attacked their residence while they were inside, killing both of them on the spot.

Ward No. 23 Chairperson Deepak Dawadi said the wild elephant entered the settlement from the national park on Saturday night before attacking the house.

Following the incident, discussions were held among local representatives, security officials, and the Chitwan National Park administration. The meeting resulted in several immediate decisions, including taking urgent measures to control the wild elephant, providing prompt financial relief to the victims’ family through the Chitwan National Park Office, rebuilding the destroyed house, and implementing immediate actions to reduce future human-wildlife conflict in the area.
