Rain and Thunderstorms Expected on March 27 across Nepal

Weather conditions across Nepal are set to worsen again from today (Friday), with forecasts predicting rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms in many parts of the country.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, weather disturbances are expected to intensify on Friday and Saturday, prompting authorities to urge the public to take necessary precautions. Information Officer Dinkar Kayastha said cloud cover has already increased since Thursday evening, with rainfall likely in various areas starting Friday.

Rainfall was recorded on Thursday evening in districts including Gorkha, Sindhupalchok, Kaski, Lamjung, Sankhuwasabha, Khotang, and Nuwakot, and the pattern is expected to intensify further from Friday night.

According to the weather bulletin issued Thursday evening, partial cloud cover is expected in the mountainous regions on Friday, while hilly regions will remain generally cloudy. Some places in the hilly and mountainous areas across all provinces, along with a few locations in the Tarai, are likely to experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, hailstorms, and even snowfall in higher elevations.

On Saturday, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while other regions will see partial cloud cover. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and possible snowfall is likely in some areas of these provinces and a few locations in other hilly and mountainous regions.

The department has also urged the public to remain cautious, especially due to the risks posed by strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms during this period.
