An 81-year-old man has been arrested in Lalitpur for killing a 55-year-old man. Lalitpur Police have taken Kancha Patuwar, an elderly resident of Lalitpur Metropolitan City–12, Khoicha, into custody.

Police said Patuwar killed Dhan Bahadur Tamang (also known as Dhane), a 55-year-old man from Dakshinkali Municipality–9.

According to SSP Hobindra Bogati from Lalitpur Police, Dhan Bahadur died after hitting an electric pole when Patuwar pushed him.

On Wednesday morning around 6 a.m., police received information about a man’s body found in suspicious condition at Bansghari, Khoicha. A police team led by SP Chakraraj Joshi reached the site for investigation.

As the incident looked suspicious, police brought a trained sniffer dog from the Canine Office in Maharajgunj to assist in the investigation. The body was sent to Patan Hospital for postmortem, and police concluded that it was a murder.

During the investigation, police identified 81-year-old Kancha Patuwar as the suspect. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested him in the evening from Lalitpur Metropolitan City–25, where he was hiding.

Police said the murder was linked to a financial dispute involving a woman who worked at Patuwar’s house. Tamang and the woman reportedly had some financial dealings, which often led to arguments.

On Wednesday, Tamang had gone to Patuwar’s house again and argued with the woman. When Patuwar tried to stop the quarrel, an argument broke out between him and Tamang.

During the argument, Patuwar pushed Tamang, who then hit an electric pole and fell unconscious. Police said Patuwar dragged the body to Bansghari and left it there before fleeing the scene.
