Today’s weather in Nepal: June 4, 2026

Rainfall is likely in Nepal’s hilly and mountainous regions over the coming days, while temperatures are expected to increase across parts of the southern plains, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The weather system is being influenced by a low-pressure area in the upper atmosphere over western Nepal, combined with local wind patterns.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division said cloudy conditions currently prevail across the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces, while the rest of the country’s hills are experiencing partly cloudy skies. Most areas of the Terai remain largely clear.

Light rain is already being reported at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

During the day, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy across the hills and mountains, with partly cloudy conditions in the Terai. Some places in the higher elevations could experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, while snowfall is possible in mountainous areas. Isolated areas of the Terai in Madhesh and Koshi provinces may also receive rain and thunderstorms.

Forecasters have warned that temperatures are likely to rise across the Terai districts of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, increasing the risk of heat-related discomfort.

Tonight, cloud cover is expected to persist over the mountainous regions, while the hills and the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces are likely to remain partly cloudy. Most other Terai districts are expected to see mainly clear weather.

Light rain or snowfall is forecast at isolated locations in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, as well as in the high-altitude areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces. Moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some hilly and mountainous districts and at a few locations in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged residents, particularly in the Terai districts of Madhesh and Koshi provinces, to take precautions against rising temperatures and to stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
