Five Injured, Including Six-Month-Old Baby, in Rukum East Jeep Accident

Five people, including a six-month-old baby, were injured after a safari jeep veered off the road and plunged around 30 meters down a hillside in Rukum East on Monday.

The accident occurred along the Rukumkot–Dading inner road section at Jhankripole in Sisne Rural Municipality-4. According to police, the Lu 1 Ja 2470 safari jeep was traveling from Rukumkot toward Dading when it lost control and crashed off the road.

The vehicle was being driven by 23-year-old Khimman Khadka of Kida, Sisne Rural Municipality-2. Police said the jeep was carrying 11 people, including the driver.

Among those on board, five people sustained injuries while the remaining six escaped unharmed.

The injured have been identified as:

  • Khimman Khadka (23) – the driver
  • Rosani Budhamagar (27) of Dading, Sisne Rural Municipality-4
  • Sarlas Budhamagar (6 months), Rosani’s son
  • Ramita Gharti (21)
  • Dhankumari Gharti (23)

According to the District Police Office, Rukum East, the six-month-old infant suffered a head injury. Dhankumari Gharti sustained serious injuries to her chest, back, and head, while Rosani Budhamagar injured her arm. Ramita Gharti suffered a head injury, and driver Khadka sustained minor injuries to his chest and back.

All of the injured are receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Rukum East.

Police personnel from the Dhaunne Temporary Police Post and the District Police Office were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of the accident. The rescue team transported the injured to the hospital, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
