One Killed in Tractor Accident in Nepal’s Panchthar District

A 24-year-old man was killed and another person injured after a tractor plunged off a road in Nepal’s eastern Panchthar district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Mukhiya, a resident of School Danda in Phidim Municipality-3, according to police.

The accident occurred in Jimaha, Ward No. 2 of Phalelung Rural Municipality. Another passenger, Yog Bahadur Jebgu of Thade Lasune, Phalelung Rural Municipality-1, sustained injuries in the crash.

According to Panchthar District Police Chief DSP Anish Karn, the incident happened when Mukhiya attempted to drive an empty tractor (registration number Me 1 Ta 3556) that had been parked. The vehicle reportedly went out of control and veered off the road, falling approximately five meters down a hillside.

Police said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
