Electricity supply has been disrupted in Pyuthan for the past three days after a transformer at the powerhouse of the Jhimruk Hydropower Project caught fire on Sunday night.

The outage has also affected parts of Rolpa and Arghakhanchi districts, leaving large areas without electricity, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Pyuthan Distribution Center.

Officials said restoration work may take some time, and efforts are underway to supply electricity from Arghakhanchi as a temporary solution.

The prolonged blackout has significantly impacted daily life across the district. Banking and financial services have been disrupted, while residents relying on lift-based drinking water systems are also facing difficulties due to the power shortage.
