Two boys drown while swimming in Nepal Sunkoshi river

Two young boys have tragically lost their lives after drowning in a branch of the Sunkoshi River at Sitkha in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Sindhuli.

According to Sindhuli District Police Chief, SP Rabindra Bahadur Singh, the victims have been identified as 9-year-old Safal Pulami Magar and 10-year-old Yukesh BK. Safal was originally from Sunkoshi-4, while Yukesh was from Bandipur in Sunkoshi-5. Both boys had recently been residing in Bohoretar, Sunkoshi-3.

The tragedy occurred while the boys were swimming in a diversion channel where the river splits. After they went missing in the water, a search operations team comprising local police and a specialized rescue squad equipped with disaster management gear from the Armed Police Force (APF) Disaster Management Base in Khurkot was immediately deployed to the site.

The bodies of both children were later recovered along the banks of the Sunkoshi River, approximately 150 meters east of the spot where they had gone in for a swim.
