The statement of Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajesh Man Singh has been completed at the Parsa District Court as part of an investigation into an alleged document forgery case.

According to Prabhakar Mallik, registrar of the Parsa District Court, Singh’s statement has concluded and a detention hearing is expected to begin shortly. Following the hearing, the court will decide whether to remand him into judicial custody for further proceedings or release him on bail or a court appearance order.

The Parsa District Court issued an arrest warrant against Singh last Tuesday. Acting on the court’s order, police arrested him at around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday from a resort in Thori, Parsa, according to Raju Karki, spokesperson for the Parsa District Police Office.

Singh is accused of helping obtain citizenship and other official government documents for a girl by allegedly presenting her as his own daughter using forged documents. Police said the investigation is being carried out under charges related to document forgery and falsification of official records.

The court is expected to determine the next course of action after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.
