Police in Siraha have arrested two young men after seizing 3 grams and 140 milligrams of the banned drug brown sugar.

The suspects have been identified as 23-year-old Jayakumar Sah and 19-year-old Sujal Shah, both residents of Mirchaiya Municipality-6. According to the District Police Office, Siraha, the arrests took place on Sunday evening in Budhaura, Siraha Municipality-15.

The Operation

Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team deployed from the Khirauna Police Post intercepted a motorcycle (Ja 10 Pa 7637) travelling from India toward Nepal.

During a routine search of the vehicle and its riders, officers discovered the contraband hidden in their possession.

Ongoing Investigation

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Bahadur Pal, the information officer for the District Police Office, Sirha, legal proceedings have already commenced.

“Both suspects face charges under the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act. The Sirha District Court has remanded them into custody for five days to allow for further investigation,” DSP Pal said.

Police added that a wider investigation into the smuggling ring is currently underway.
