Two Brothers Stabbed to Death at Patan’s Krishna Temple After Phone Dispute

Two brothers have been killed in a stabbing incident at the Krishna Temple premises in Patan, Lalitpur, police say.

The victims, identified as 33-year-old Sumit Nembang and his 26-year-old brother Sirjan Nembang, were attacked with a knife and later died while receiving treatment.

Police said the brothers were seriously injured in the assault and were taken to B&B Hospital, where they died during treatment, according to Lalitpur police chief SSP Hovindra Bogati.

Authorities have arrested two suspects, including the main accused Sanjiv Nepali, who is believed to have carried out the attack. They were detained while attempting to flee.

How did the incident unfold?

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident began with a phone call on Wednesday evening. The Nembang brothers had called a number belonging to Sanjiv Nepali, despite not knowing him.

Police say the conversation escalated into an argument during the call. As tensions rose, Nepali allegedly asked the brothers to come to Patan.

The brothers, who lived in Imadol, then travelled to meet him. Investigators say Nepali, who works at a meat shop, arrived at the scene carrying a knife used for cutting meat and attacked them.

Further investigation is under way.
